On March 15 and 16, Bobbie Patton (fourth from the left) taught Beginner Silversmithing to five students who are not yet members of the Club. Each one fabricated a silver pendant. The process included sawing, filing, stamping a decorative imprint, soldering to make a bezel, and setting a stone. All the materials needed to complete their projects were provided.
SaddleBrooke Silversmith and Lapidary Club was proud to display some of our members’ fine treasures in a Guest Exhibit display case at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society’s® Main Show at the Tucson Convention Center. Our display featured beautiful pieces of jewelry and lapidary efforts prepared by club members. Congratulations and thank you to Melissa Geyman, Delys Nast, Betty McNeill, Pam Brunelle, Judy Lancaster, Mark Erickson, Pam Vassallo, Cynthia Martin, Jeff Hininger, Laura Stafford and Dave Lancaster for sharing their treasures to showcase the talents of our club.
The Club’s first studio tour was held on March 6th. Visiting Laura Stafford’s studio was a delightful event for about 15 newer and seasoned members. Yes, she duplicates equipment we have in the Club, but when you have a ’systemized work flow’ the comfort and pleasure of producing in your own studio makes sense. Laura loves coming into the Turquoise Room too, and brings her talent and eagerness to help us all. Laura gave us an insightful demonstration of her jewelry-making method using precious metal clay, or art clay. Her wide variety of tools and impressions was impressive. Loaning them out to club members was definitely something I will take her up on.
